Logan were invited to join the 8th IBI Group Construction Cup on Friday 7th September that saw teams from across the industry battle it out in a five-a-side football tournament at Powerleague Shoreditch.
40 teams met on the sunny Friday afternoon to not only try and win the top prize but to also raise awareness and money for the Construction Youth Trust, who work to support young people with a passion for construction.
The tournament is also an advocate for equality and joins with the #notjustforboys campaign in raising awareness of women in construction. The rules for the tournament stipulated that to quality for the full team allowance of 7 players, each team has to have at least one female player. Two Logan members of staff, Steph and Maggie, joined the boys on the pitch and our colleague Lyn came along too and she kept us refreshed and ready for action.
Logan FC were faced with strong competition in their first round group, including a previous winner and a finalist. The team, who had got together solely for today, battled hard but unfortunately didn’t make it through the group stage. Captain Andy Giles commended the team on their attitude and approach.
We thank IBI Group for inviting us to the event and look forward to hopefully doing better next year – a few practice games are on the cards!
