UCL is one of the world’s leading universities, founded in London to open up education to all on equal terms and produces outstanding research and innovative solutions. The Pearson & Lewis Buildings provide high quality offices and study areas for astrophysics and science students.

The works consist of the internal demolitions, alterations and subsequent fit out works including internal partitions and doors, wall, floor and ceiling finishes. FF&E and new mechanical and electrical installations to the third and fourth floor of the Lewis’ Building and the strip out and refurbishment, including new finishes and mechanical and electrical installations of the second floor to the Pearson Building.

This is a fast track refurbishment undertaken in just 11 weeks. The buildings are situated within a live university campus and works are undertaken adjacent to student and teaching areas. Minimal disruption and open communication with the client is essential, to avoid any disruption to studying and teaching programmes.

The UCL buildings are within the Bloomsbury Conservation Area and have strong historical links with Charles Darwin. The Pearson Building is ‘of exceptional interest’ and is Grade 1 listed.

As with any listed building refurbishment, it is essential that we liaise closely with local authorities and other stakeholders to address any concerns during the construction and refurbishment programme.

We are delighted to be able to work with UCL on the Pearson & Lewis refurbishment. Over the years we have established an excellent working relationship with the university and look forward to completing yet another successful project for them.
