Central Library Levels 2 and 3 Refurbishment

Imperial College London

Project Name: Central Library Refurbishment

Location: South Kensington

Value: £2.5m

Principal Consultants: ICL, Jacobs

Project Duration: 12 weeks

Located on the South Kensington Campus, we are delivering the refurbishment of Levels 1, 2 and 3 plus the central core staircase of the Central Library. Valued at £2.5m and delivered in 12 weeks, we undertook a variety of work to bring several levels of the library up to enhanced standards for students and staff.

We installed extensive new M&E installations, chilled beam cooling system, new ventilation systems and undertook the replacement of perimeter LTHW radiator systems, along with new fire alarm systems, power, lighting, IT infrastructure plus new cabling, access control and CCTV works.

Other works included a general refurbishment of the remaining areas, forming of a new IT hub room, complete renewals and decor to walls, a ceiling on Level 3 and carpet replacements on Levels 1, 2 and 3.

Areas under construction have been closed off to students, but access to the other levels remained throughout the summer, so works were planned and programmed to minimise disruption.
