Project Name: Kings School, Hove
Location: High Street, Portslade, Brighton, East Sussex BN41 2PG
Principal Consultants: Turner & Townsend
Project Duration: 11 weeks
King’s is an ecumenical Christian secondary school committed to high academic standards in need of expanded classroom space to improve on current student facilities. Whilst construction is underway for a new state-of-the-art permanent school on an alternative site, Logan has been appointed to provide a much improved and enlarged intrium learning environment with a large new modular classroom block.
Manufactured off-site, the new modular teaching block will consist of nine large classrooms and a double size multi purpose room. The classrooms will all be fully equipped with interactive whiteboards and other teaching aids. In addition, there will be new lavatory facilities for pupils and two staff offices.
Externally, there will be landscape fencing and gates to the area where the new modular accommodation is being installed. There will also be new fencing and gates installed to the current car park area at the front of the school.
By utilising off-site manufactured modular units, works are able to commence on site whilst the modular buildings are also being constructed.
The majority of work has been undertaken during the summer break and will be completed in time for the beginning of the new September term.
This was a challenging project due to the location of the school and it’s limited access points... A two phase crane lifting plan was put in place to overcome the challenge of safely lifting in 26 modular units to form this exciting new addition to Kings School
