Project Name: Lourdes Ward
Location: St Joseph's Hospie
Principal Consultants: Fatkin, Three Percent, JCA Ltd
Project Duration: 16 weeks
We undertook the refurbishment of the Lourdes Ward on the first floor of St Joseph’s Hospice in Hackney, London to deliver a refreshed and caring environment for the staff and patients.
The project, undertaken across 4 months, saw the ward closed off to staff and the public as works were undertaken.
As part of our scope, we provided two new bedrooms to complement the existing 16 beds that were present on the ward. These were created by redeveloping existing spaces, removing rooms that were no longer useful to the staff and patients including a smoking room and office. Other areas that were renewed included a pharmacy, nurse’s base, relative’s areas and kitchen/servery space.
Works undertaken included a strip out of the existing bedrooms, new partitions and walls, replacement of flooring, new wall protection, M&E, new door frames and doors, painting and decorating and specialist elements including medical beds.
The remaining areas of the Hospice were live throughout the programme and as such, we developed our programme to meet the requirements of the staff and their patients. This included no noisy working during meal periods and regular meetings with the Ward Manager to discuss upcoming elements of the programme.
