Nightingale Hammerson is one of the Jewish community’s leading providers of care for older people. Nightingale House provides residential, nursing and dementia care for 170 residents.
Quality through design:
The project comprises of the refurbishment of the Kingsley Ward on the second floor within Nightingale House, to create fifteen en-suite bedrooms, one of which has a mini kitchen.
Works also include the provision of a dining area, lounge activity space, quiet space, clinical room, store room, toilets, staff area, staff toilets, meat and milk servery area, reception, assisted bath room, two sluice rooms and a cleaners cupboard.
Works are with a three storey occupied building. To avoid disruption wherever possible to the floor above and below, construction hours are restricted to 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The part of the building is Grade II listed. Working within a listed building presents unique challenges, as the property needs to be maintained and its original structural design preserved.
We are mindful and sympathetic to this and have ensured that our refurbishment works blend seamlessly with their surroundings within the building.
The adjacent floors were occupied by residents. Works were undertaken as if we were working in someone’s home, treating residents with both courtesy, respect and minimising disruption.
We are developing a new unit within Nightingale House. The new unit will offer both residential and nursing care.
