Project Name: RSCH Theatre 13
Location: Royal Surrey County Hospital
Principal Consultants: ADP Architects, K2, WT Partnership
Project Duration: 26 weeks
Remodelling and refurbishment of existing hospital facilities into much a needed operating theatre. The project comprised the conversion of ancillary rooms into a new purpose built surgical operating theatre and associated recovery bed area, allowing the trust to add specialisms to their range and ease pressure on the existing theatres.
The works included concrete crunching, strip out, structural steel, specialised mechanical and electrical works and operating room laminar flow systems and were undertaken adjacent to existing and fully functional theatres in constant use during the build.
The schemes success was due to a positive collaborative approach with an inspirational and driven team, making this project a hugely enjoyable process at all stages in very difficult surroundings. The clinical and design teams worked closely with Logan, to provide and deliver a quality operating theatre on time and within budget to a very satisfied client.
This new cutting edge trauma facility will assist with the increased demand for pelvic and urological cancer surgery, as we can now carry this out in two adjacent theatres, fully equipped with robots, which do not have to move
