This project comprised internal re-modelling of four storey accommodation blocks across multiple phases. Externally, works included renovating and restoring the stonework walls and slate/lead lined roof area.
The main challenge was the fact that this was a Grade II Listed Building. Salvage and recycling was key to this project. Wherever possible we had to salvage, save and restore the original building materials, sourcing specialist similar materials as required and getting approval by the local conservation officer prior to use.
Other projects completed for M.O.D include:
Gibraltar Barracks – 13 weeks
Upgrade of existing SLA bedrooms with en-suite facilities and the conversion of sitting rooms to en-suite bedrooms with alterations to walls, doors, windows, services and decoration.
Wainscott Barracks – 20 weeks
Refurbishment of a single storey teaching laboratory block to upgrade existing research facilities and create a new staff wellbeing room, seminar room, classroom, office, WC and shower facilities for students and staff.
Gibraltar Barracks – 8 weeks
Conversion of an existing storeroom to 2 x 15 person classrooms and alterations of services to suit.
Brompton Barracks – 4 weeks
Minor enabling works consisting of the shortening of existing doors and installation of additional power sockets within various buildings to enable residents of BR029 building to relocate prior to full refurbishment project.
