Brook House Primary School
The Lion Academy Trust
This single stage Design & Build project comprised the fit-out of a new shell and core building over two levels for the purpose of creating a new 420 place, two form entry primary school.
The works comprised the internal fit-out including internal walls and linings, building services and fixtures, fittings and equipment of the ground and first floors, the external amenity and play space to the east of the building and adjustments to the perimeter fencing.
Logistically challenging, the site was below three floors of occupied flats. The site also had a tight footprint, meaning we had limited storage space.
Originally, the internal walls for the school were designed to be of block construction. This method required a lot of time within the programme to deliver and put pressure on the end date. We suggested the walls be constructed in metal stud partitions, which were quicker than block construction and guaranteed delivery for the new school year. Part way through the contract, the client asked us to supply and coordinate the loose FF&E for the school. We were able to obligate and deliver this by the completion date.
KEY POINTS:
- Logistically challenging site, as above the shell and core of the school sat three floors of occupied flats
- Single Stage Design & Build
- Two storey primary school
- Working in close partnership with the client

“From the outset we have been very pleased with how Logan Construction have approached this project and how diligent and thoughtful they have been throughout. The success of this project is down to a combination of our design and school operating experience matched by Logan and our technical advisors’ appetite to work collaboratively with Newlon and the Department of Education to keep things on the productive track we see before us.”
