Higher Education
Meeting the changes associated with student demographics, the national curriculum and education skills requirements, there will inevitably be a need for some form of construction project in the lifetime of a school, college or university.
Our extensive educational portfolio is rich with University experience, providing new and upgraded facilities to some of London and the South-East’s leading institutes. Much of the work is undertaken whilst the students are in occupation. This demands a special appreciation of vital elements such as noise control, site behaviour and particular attention to safety precautions.
We retain experience and a real appreciation of the planning, communication, flexibility and controlled safe working methods required to successfully integrate refurbishment projects within sensitive occupied buildings. Our process, refined through extensive higher education sector involvement, mitigates and minimises the disruption to the operational surrounding environment at all times.
We offer a strong focus on site logistic plans, agreed access/egress routes, security and segregation of the works, dust and noise control, permit to work systems specifically relating to M&E Services.
Our understanding and working knowledge across a wide range of university campus buildings has enabled our teams to anticipate and plan for the unexpected. We are often working on constricted sites with challenging logistical aspects, where optimum solutions are required.
Characteristically, a University requires a sensitive scheme that protects the vital learning pathways of their students; all whilst delivering a high-quality finish that exemplifies their core values.
We have instilled this within our delivery model for this sector, which in-turn has nurtured numerous strong, long-lasting and continuing working relationships.
This includes:
- Queen Mary University London: Our position as approved Main Contractor has resulted in over £18m worth of work in circa 120 projects within the last five years
- Imperial College London: Retaining our position as approved Main Contractor since 2016, we have been tasked with almost £5m of construction work across several schemes
- University of Arts London: Having only been appointed as a Framework Contractor in late 2017, we have already been entrusted with almost £2m worth of complex refurbishment works
Such a diverse portfolio in this sector continues to strengthen, through our successful application to recent higher education Construction Frameworks. Most notably, this includes our recent appointment to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) Framework.
