Imaging Suite Completion
July 2024
This project focused on refurbishing of the imaging department of a busy London hospital. The project included replacing three X-ray areas, three CT scanner areas and one MRI area.
The detailed scope of work was as follows:
- Refurbishment of existing X-ray 1, 2 and 3 clinical rooms and adjacent control rooms, which involved the installation of a new power supply for the Siemens equipment.
- Refurbishment of existing CT 1, 2, and 3 scanners, control and tech rooms, and adjacent write-up rooms in preparation for the installation of new Canon scanners. This work also encompassed the creation of a new UPS/IPS room in the CT corridor and the construction of a new injection room along with associated services. Remodelling of the WC was also carried out.
- Refurbishment of the existing MRI scanner room and adjacent control and tech rooms, which included the installation of a new power supply for the Siemens equipment and ventilation improvement.
Additionally, the project involved the installation of two new structural steel decks, new chillers and the main AHU (Air Handling Unit) to serve CT 1, 2 and 3, as well as MRI 3. Moreover, two new process chillers were installed for MRI 3 and work was carried out on the roof of CT 3 to install four new ‘mixer boxes’ as part of the AHU system. This involved phased replacement of the existing plant to maintain existing areas during the works.
In addition to these extensive works, approximately £1.0 million worth of backlog maintenance was completed for four new chillers across the hospital.
