DIGITAL LEARNING HUB
- Extensive M&E
- Continuous liaison with key stakeholders
Refurbishment and remodelling of existing space/offices to provide a new digital learning hub. The new building provides formal and informal meeting rooms, open learning space for students, office space and a recording/editing studio room.
CENTRAL LIBRARY
- Fast-track project
- Occupied building
Refurbishment of levels 1, 2 and 3 plus the central core staircase of the Central Library together with general refurbishment of the remaining areas forming a new IT hub room. Works included extensive M&E installations, chilled beams cooling system, new ventilation systems and replacement of perimeter LTHW radiator systems, along with new fire alarm systems, power, lighting, IT infrastructure plus new cabling, access control and CCTV works.
H1 LABORATORY
- Laboratory refurbishment
- Occupied building
- High level MEP services
The fit-out works required a high level of MEP services coordination to suit the structural restraints of the building fabric along with suiting the architectural and specialist equipment layout requirements. Logan utilised their M&E Coordinator to attend onsite M&E workshops all to timely progress working drawings and technical submissions to enable long lead procurement items to be placed correctly on order and commence first fix activities to programme.
The project was undertaken within an occupied building, located within the busy Hammersmith Campus, so particular attention and planning was implemented to the logistical requirements of the refurbishment project. This ensured ambulance routes and other campus activities were not comprised.
The client was particularly concerned with security so under an enabling package an SR4 steel door set was cut into the external brickwork of the building at 1st floor level and our scaffold access gantry and welfare facilities were all arranged so that the only access was through our steel secured cabins. In addition, we also temporarily fitted CCTV externally along with intruder alarms and card swipe access to our site set up, all of which was linked back into the ICL Security Infrastructure.
“We wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you and your team for creating an amazing space for us to move into. It’s absolutely brilliant. Thanks as well for dealing with all the changes and additions throughout the project. Best of luck with your other work!”
