Interventional Radiology Unit
Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Comprising two distinct phases, this project comprised the modernisation of Basildon Hospital’s existing Radiology department.
Firstly, we completed the strip-out and enabling package of works. Works involved isolations, strip-out and minor refurbishment works to form a temporary dirty utility and drug cupboard store. Carried out within an operational Radiology department, we coordinated a robust decant/recant strategy to ensure existing facilities adjacent to the site area could continue to function.
Following our successful coordination of the enabling works, we were awarded the refurbishment and installation phase.
Central to this phase was our close coordination with specialist supplier Siemens for the delivery, installation and commissioning of the new angiography system. A specialist workshop was held with the specialist supplier and the Trust which allowed us to have a clear understanding of how Siemens were going to complete their install and could incorporate all aspects within our overall programme.
“Excellent quality, exceeded expectations, very prompt to respond, worked well together as a team, handover undertaken very well, added value to the overall project and significantly better compared to other construction companies. To take on board what you did, and to deliver it was excellent. Nothing about the project was simple, straight forward or regular but it was handled excellently. I cannot speak highly enough of the three key personnel we had on this project. I appreciate the work wasn’t ideal and there were significant challenges presented to them by the trust, but they were exemplary.”
