Lewisham MRI Scanner Works
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust
The MRI refurbishment project started with ten weeks of enabling works, which required us to form new facilities and undertake a phased decant programme to free up the required areas of the building. We also stripped the roof of its existing fittings and removed redundant plant.
We had to undertake a major structural installation to accommodate the required chiller and air handling units for the scanner. A bespoke roof enclosure was formed to facilitate the installation of the MRI scanner. We undertook six crane lifts over consecutive weekends to lift in the scanner and new plant required.
Following this, the roof was weathered and perimeter edging was extended and upgraded.
Brand new M&E installations were installed with new MRI control, scanner procedure rooms, consultation rooms and associated facilities. The fit-out included services commissioning with the Siemens team and upgrades to medical gas, alarms and BMS controls.
In addition, a scheduled programme of works was necessary on the occupied medical records department on the ground floor. The refurbishment was undertaken around shifts and out of hours.
“Just a quick note to thank Logan Construction and the design team for completing the project on time and within budget. The users are thrilled with the new facility and have asked me to express their thanks for the work undertaken by all members of the construction and design team in delivering a first class project.”
