New Pharmacy Handover

This new pharmacy now boasts a large welcoming reception area with new roller shutters and bespoke reception desk, open plan offices for use by the community teams, medical storage and a micro lift from the ground to basement level to carry records to and from the filing and storage areas.

Our works completed for the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust involved the structural remodelling, refurbishment and fit-out of an existing pharmacy located at basement and ground floor levels. The construction involved opening up parts of the existing building and installing new structural steel elements to facilitate revised floor plans, followed by the construction of a new cast in-situ concrete staircase and opening to connect the new pharmacy to the basement stores. This included the demolition of internal walls, breaking through the ground floor, installing new partitions, decorative works, ventilation, fire doors and upgrading the mechanical and electrical services. Additionally, new roof-mounted plant/ AHUs were installed.

History – The Maudsley Hospital is located in Camberwell, South London, and was constructed using brick and block in the mid to late 1900s. The building has a pitched roof and houses two floors of hospital facilities, including the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology, and Neuroscience from King’s College London. The hospital is known for its world-renowned research and is Europe’s largest centre for research and post-graduate education in psychiatry, psychology and neuroscience.
