About This Research and Development Project

The Cellular Therapeutics unit required an expansion and refurbishment to increase its capacity.

We carried out the project, resulting in the addition of specialised facilities to the Trust. The new laboratories have a high specification and showcase world-class facilities with exemplary design, faultless installation and impeccable finish.

Phase 1 involved the creation of new gowning area, product storage and cell processing labs without disturbing the existing services.

Phase 2 included the construction of a new steel-framed building on the ground floor of an enclosed four-story light well. Due to its location, manual demolition and handling of materials and plant were necessary. Built to meet the client’s specifications, this facility houses new Cat B research labs. Sophisticated air handling units were installed, linked to a complex mechanical and electrical design. The five individual labs were created after the area was sealed.

Phase 3 completed the unit with the addition of the capacity to produce genetically modified cells.

The production facility now offers reduced operating costs and facilitated retention of UK operating licenses.

Client feedback

Many contractors claim they aim to hand over a snag free project, but today is the first time in my career that I’ve seen it…you are to be congratulated on a job well done!
