ROYAL SURREY COUNTY HOSPITAL – UROLOGY CENTRE
- New build
- Adjacent live hospital
- Restricted site
A world leading urology centre spanning approximately 1600 m2 across two floors to facilitate patient treatment together with ground breaking research facilities. The new building provides consultation and treatment rooms, administrative and staff accommodation, clinical facilities and a new lecture theatre. Constructed on pad foundations, this steel frame building takes on a contemporary style, featuring a curved front, open atrium entrance and is further enhanced externally by copper cladding panels, along with white rendered walls and complementary Atlas Blue facing bricks and a flat roof.
ROYAL SURREY COUNTY HOSPITAL – A&E DEPARTMENT
- Phased project
- Working adjacent to the live A&E department
- Extensive refurbishment scheme
This extensive refurbishment scheme took place over three phases. Phase one involved the reconfiguration of the existing admissions/discharge areas, conversion of the existing internal garden into a minor operations unit and alterations to the existing reception to form a new and upgraded front desk suite. Due to the proximity of nearby critical facilities and operational areas, works were undertaken after extensive planning. We incorporated sensitive demolition methodologies to limit noise, dust and vibration arisings. This was in addition to our full compliance with the Trust’s procedure on noisy works. Phase two works included a new front extension to the existing A&E department and an extensive refurbishment to form an upgraded major trauma unit to provide a new 16 bed area and two isolation rooms.
ROYAL SURREY COUNTY HOSPITAL – THEATRE 13
- Purpose built surgical operating theatre
- Collaborative approach
- Live hospital environment
This project comprised the conversion of ancillary rooms into a new purpose built surgical operating theatre and associated recovery bed area, allowing the Trust to add their specialisms to their range and ease pressure on the existing theatres. The works include concrete crunching, strip out, structural steel, specialised mechanical and electrical works and operating laminar flow systems. All works were undertaken adjacent to existing and fully functional theatres in constant use during the build.
- Working with Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since 2015
- 3 projects completed to date
- circa £11m
“The Trust already received fantastic outcomes for its urology patients and the new facility will ensure an excellent experience during their treatment. Together, we can realise our dream of creating a true centre of urological excellence. This will benefit not only the Royal Surrey’s patients, but people from throughout the UK and beyond.”
